Program Description Leading Youth Through Empowerment(LYTE) believes academic success is foundational to lifelong success. LYTE strives to change the academic trajectory of under-represented youth by preparing middle school students to attend rigorous high school programs and then colleges, through personal mentoring, rigorous teaching, and leadership. Job Description All LYTE teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation of LYTE's curriculum and the success of our students. Therefore, LYTE seeks teachers who are committed to becoming the educators our students deserve. We are currently seeking both experienced and apprentice teachers for 8th Grade ELA and Math. It will be for a four week summer program. The virtual program will go from June 15th to July 9th (Monday-Thursday) and Virtual is June 22nd to July 16th (Monday-Thursday).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1
. Implement curricula and activities to meet our academic standards, teaching approximately four 60 - 90 minute sessions per week. 2. Analyze assessments that measure progress towards these standards and use this assessment data to inform and differentiate instructional practices. 3. Focus constantly on student learning, thinking critically and strategically to respond to student learning needs. 4. Create a positive, structured learning environment to ensure that students observe our program's core values. 5. Communicate effectively with students. Qualifications 1. Strong applicants for all teaching roles (new and experienced) will possess the following: a. Relentless drive to improve the minds, characters & lives of students both in and outside of the LYTE classroom. b. Unwavering commitment to urban youth achieving greatness. c. Belief in and alignment with LYTE's core beliefs and educational philosophy is a must. d. Mastery of and enthusiasm for relevant academic subjects. e. Evidence of self-motivation, willingness to be a team player, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. f. Ability and desire to implement feedback from program leaders and colleagues to become a more effective educator in service to our students. Compensation Teachers will receive a lump sum stipend paid across two cycles (equivalent of 33/hr).
