Job Summary St. Philip Orthodox Christian School is a newly formed, K-12, small Orthodox Christian school. Maximum capacity is set to 50 students. We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle/High School Math Teacher to inspire and educate students in a vibrant learning environment. Currently, there are five students in middle and high school, combined. There is one 3rd grader, 6th grader and two 9th graders. This role involves delivering engaging lessons that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and a love for mathematics. The ideal candidate will be committed to nurturing diverse learners, integrating innovative educational technology, and implementing curriculum effectively to meet academic standards. You will play a vital role in shaping students' mathematical understanding and preparing them for future academic pursuits and real-world challenges. Responsibilities Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating modern educational technology and teaching strategies. Supervise your class for non-instructional hours (break and lunch time). Facilitate engaging classroom discussions that accommodate various learning styles and cultural backgrounds. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation. Implement classroom management techniques to create a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and sharing best practices for math education. Incorporate advanced mathematical concepts such as Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, Discrete Math, Differential Equations, and Proofreading into lessons. Support students through tutoring sessions, mentoring, and academic advising to foster their growth and confidence in math. Integrate educational technology tools to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement in line with IT- integrated lessons implementation. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral observations in compliance with educational regulations. Participate in professional development opportunities related to science teaching methods, laboratory experiences, or special education adaptations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred. Proven experience teaching middle or high school students in classroom settings; private school experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of mathematics including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Math, Differential Equations, and related scientific disciplines such as Biochemistry or Molecular Biology is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to adapt lessons to diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds while maintaining high standards of classroom management. Experience with Saxon math curriculum development, implementation of IT-integrated lessons, and instructional design techniques. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and educational compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents or guardians. Laboratory experience or research laboratory background is advantageous for integrating science components into math instruction. Knowledge of special education needs and behavior management strategies to support all learners effectively.
