The Fourth Grade Math Teacher will provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Responsibilities Facilitate daily Crew , a cornerstone of Polaris culture focused on community building, goal setting, and social-emotional growth Deliver engaging fourth-grade math instruction aligned with Illinois learning standards and school curriculum Implement high-quality math instruction using Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) and Illustrative Mathematics practices Use data-driven instruction to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Foster mathematical discourse, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding in daily lessons Create a positive, achievement-oriented classroom culture with high expectations Build strong relationships with students and families through consistent communication Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, and school leadership Maintain accurate student records, grades, and assessments Participate actively in professional development, staff meetings, and school events Incorporate technology, hands-on learning, and collaborative activities into daily lessons Support the mission and values of Polaris Charter Academy Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required Elementary teaching experience preferred Experience with or strong understanding of Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) and Illustrative Mathematics Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Commitment to educational equity and student achievement Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching elementary mathematics in an urban school setting Familiarity with charter school environments and data-driven instruction Experience facilitating math discussions and student-centered learning Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance Retirement benefits Paid holidays and school breaks Ongoing coaching and professional development Collaborative and supportive school culture Schedule Full-time Monday through Friday In-person position located in Chicago, Illinois Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Polaris Charter Academy is committed to recruiting, supporting, and retaining a diverse staff.
