Under the direction of the School Principal, the High School Mathematics Teacher assesses, plans, and provides engaging learning experiences in mathematics for students in a variety of educational settings. The person in this position is responsible for creating a dynamic and inclusive mathematics classroom that promotes problem solving, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking. The teacher ensures that students develop a strong understanding of mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry, statistics, and advanced mathematical reasoning while building confidence and persistence in solving complex problems. The mathematics teacher supports students in developing quantitative literacy through differentiated instruction, real-world applications, and inquiry-based learning.Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of: the necessary principles and application of theory into practice for effective instruction and positive behavioral supports that are beneficial for implementation with all students with disabilities; MA Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks and instructional techniques; human behavior, development, and skill performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders; and Ralph C. Mahar Regional policies and effective instructional practices. The High School Mathematics Teacher also demonstrates the ability to provide positive behavioral support to students in a group and in an individual setting; demonstrates an understanding of the federal, state, and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of special education services; completes observations and reports pertaining to learning behaviors of students; displays the ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents and community members. Overall, the educator possesses excellent human relations skills and a working knowledge of the English language in written and verbal form.Essential Duties:

Instruction & Curriculum Implementation- Develop and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks.
- Teach courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or other high school mathematics courses as assigned.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and mathematical abilities.
- Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills through inquiry-based learning and real-world applications.
- Integrate technology, mathematical modeling, and data analysis to enhance student learning.
- Encourage students to develop perseverance and confidence in solving complex mathematical problems. Classroom Management
- Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that supports active student engagement.
- Establish clear classroom expectations and procedures that promote collaboration and responsible behavior.
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies that support a productive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth. Assessment & Student Support
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding.
- Analyze assessment data to guide instructional decisions.
- Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress with families.
- Implement accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs and 504 plans. Collaboration & Professional Development
- Collaborate with colleagues and department staff to support curriculum development and alignment.
- Participate in professional development, department meetings, and curriculum planning initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress.
- Support interdisciplinary initiatives and school-wide programs. Compliance & School Responsibilities
- Adhere to state and district policies, including grading practices, assessment procedures, and accommodations for students with IEPs and 504 plans.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data.
- Fulfill assigned duties such as supervising students during school events, lunch, arrival, or dismissal as required.
- Support school policies that promote a safe and respectful learning environment. The teacher must:
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Be ethical and reliable, and meet routine responsibilities consistently.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning and best practices.
- Exhibit enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
- Possess knowledge and demonstrate understanding of all required components of the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Possess the
SEI RETELL
Endorsement for Educators (ELL).- Be skilled with G-Suite for Education.
- Hold a current Massachusetts Teaching License in Mathematics, Grades 8-12.
Physical Requirement:
Position requires light work exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, and/or ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move objects. Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination/mind-eye coordination; intermittent keyboarding and telephoning. Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
