Job Description
Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and administration of mathematics education, instructional programs, and curricula aligned with the Maryland College and Career-Readiness Standards and Standards for Mathematical Practice . F acilitates support for services to schools, students, and families. Ensures that all initiatives support the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) system-wide goals and priorities and the Blueprint for Maryland's Future. Facilitates quality professional development related to curriculum and instruction in mathematics, Pre-K through grade 12.
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in a field related to the assignment, with at least fifteen additional hours of approved graduate and/or in-service credit. Six years of progressively responsible leadership/management experience in mathematics education in a public educational setting.Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate in an area appropriate to the assignment with an Administrator I or Supervisors of Instruction, Assistant Principals, and Principal endorsement. Mathematics endorsement preferred OR Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional License in an area appropriate to the assignment and Administrator I or Supervisors of Instruction, Assistant Principals, and Principal endorsement. Mathematics endorsement preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Prek-12 instructional practices in mathematics. Technology competency includes knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications. Outstanding oral and written communications skills. All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US. If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214. Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via e-script/clearinghouse from your university. Revises curriculum, instructional techniques, and support schools to meet system-wide goals. Provides expert leadership in mathematics with a strong content background, ensuring all curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices are fully aligned to the requirements outlined in Maryland Mathematics Policy 2.5, including the numeracy framework, grade-level standards, instructional time expectations, and course sequencing, while driving systemwide coherence and measurable improvement in student achievement. Communicates, directs, and evaluates all components of the mathematics program PreK-12 (i.e. curriculum selection, curriculum implementation, impact of professional development). Facilitates the implementation, development and refinement of the curriculum for mathematics PreK-12 and ensures the alignment of the curricula to Maryland College and Career-Readiness Standards and to other assessment requirements. Develops and identifies assessments in mathematics that are integrated and aligned with the Maryland College and Career-Readiness Standards and Frameworks, and monitors progress in meeting achievement goals while ensuring that data is used formatively to strengthen the mathematics program overall. Identifies and recommends prevention, intervention, and enrichment opportunities for students in mathematics PreK-12. Provides leadership in the identification of research-based strategies to support effective instruction conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application across mathematics PreK-12. Provides the approved mathematics textbooks, instructional materials, and software for schools for mathematics PreK-12, ensuring that resources support the achievement of all students. Develops collaborative relationships with external partners that benefit schools and support system priorities and identifies measurement metrics to evaluate partnerships. Collaborates with leadership in the Office of Special Education and the Office of Multilingual Achievement to ensure that all students have access to grade-level curriculum with appropriate scaffolds and linguistic supports. Provides parents, guardians, and community stakeholder groups with information concerning the mathematics instructional program expectations for Prek-12. Ensures that the roles and responsibilities of the Office of Mathematics PreK-12 are implemented in accordance with the school system's policies, procedures, and curriculum guidelines and without duplication of the services of other offices. Collaborates and coordinates with the Offices of Special Education, Multilingual Achievement, and Organizational Development Leadership for the design and delivery of professional development for the Office of Mathematics PreK-12 and schools. Provides leadership in the development, interpretation, and implementation of policies and procedures for the Baltimore County Public Schools. Develops professional learning for staff within the office and evaluates their performance, professional growth, and development. Develops and administers operating, capital, and other budgets, and monitors business operations to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources. Plans, budgets, and controls office expenditures and grants to ensure the allocation of resources and all spending are aligned with the system priorities.
