Position Summary:
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Online Instructor to support student learning in a virtual or blended learning environment. The Online Instructor will deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction, support student engagement, and ensure that all learners have access to meaningful educational opportunities. This position is responsible for providing instruction, monitoring student progress, maintaining communication with students and families, and ensuring compliance with district expectations and applicable state and federal requirements.
About Our District:
Long Prairie Grey Eagle Public School is a small, community-centered district located in central Minnesota. We are approximately one hour from St. Cloud, two hours from the Twin Cities, thirty minutes from Alexandria, and three hours from Duluth. Our area is surrounded by lakes, parks, and unique local features, including one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters in Minnesota. We serve the communities of Long Prairie, Grey Eagle, and Burtrum. Our district is proud of its diverse population, with students representing European, Mexican, Caribbean, and other cultural backgrounds. Approximately sixty percent of our student population identifies as Hispanic, and our community is also home to an active Amish population. We are committed to honoring this diversity and ensuring all students feel seen, supported, and successful. Our district consistently meets or exceeds state expectations for student growth. We are an Achievement and Integration district and invest in programming that supports both academic and social success for all learners, including our bilingual students. Many of our Spanish-speaking students are bilingual, and we provide family liaisons and translation services at both the elementary and secondary levels to strengthen communication and support. Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Secondary Principal, the Online Instructor develops and delivers instruction in a virtual or blended format, monitors student progress, and provides academic support to ensure student success.
Essential Functions:
Develops and delivers standards-based instruction in an online or supplemental learning environment utilizing district approved vendor May involve blended instructional elements in addition to online or supplemental delivery Ability to leverage asynchronous teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process Monitor, report, and follow-up on attendance for students enrolled in online instruction Proctor tests and follow district security policies related to online safety and academic honesty Creates and maintains an engaging virtual classroom environment that supports student learning and participation. Designs and implements lesson plans and instructional materials appropriate for online delivery in conjunction with the district's selected online vendor Monitors student progress, engagement, and completion of coursework. Provides timely feedback on assignments, assessments, and student performance. Maintains accurate records of student attendance, progress, and grades in accordance with district procedures. Communicates regularly with students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding student progress and expectations. Provides academic support and intervention to students who are struggling, following all accommodations plans (IEP, 504, LIEP). Collaborates with other teachers, counselors, and support staff to ensure student success. Supports students in developing independent learning skills and time management. Ensures compliance with district policies, including academic integrity and technology use expectations. Participates in required meetings, professional development, and district initiatives.
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment:
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephones.
Travel Requirements:
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of effective online instructional strategies and best practices. Ability to engage students in a virtual learning environment. Ability to use data to inform instruction and support student achievement. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with staff. Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs. Collaborate with staff and coordinate with students for delivery of state assessments Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital tools.
Qualifications Profile:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate content area. Master's Degree preferred Willingness to obtain a Cross-Curricular Delivery Permission (CCDP) with district support
Certification/License:
Valid Minnesota teaching license in the appropriate subject area.
Experience:
Prior teaching experience required Experience in online or blended instruction preferred. Language proficiency in Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole preferred
Technology Requirements:
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Meet, Classroom, Drive, Calendar). Experience with learning management systems (LMS). Ability to integrate technology into instruction. Ability to conduct synchronous and asynchronous instruction. Ability to learn and acquire new technology skills or learning management systems to deliver instruction as necessary
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a school building, location dependent on assignment Requires extended periods of computer use. Requires ability to communicate effectively via video, phone, and digital platforms. Occasional in-person meetings or training may be required.
