The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in math (K-8) with special attention to Tier II instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically and those needing enrichment. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. This position will work closely with the school Math Coach and the Tier III Inclusion Specialist.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Provides high quality math instruction to individual and small groups. Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade level or enrich those above grade level Collaborates with building Math Coach, teachers, and administration to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students Uses identified research-based interventions focusing specifically on individual student needs Communicates with Math Coach, teachers, and administration regarding student progress Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups Provides diagnostic progress monitoring for students as needed Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and building Math Coach to discuss student placement and progressQUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to the Sion mission. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Elementary Education or related field. State Certification preferred but can be in process; must maintain professional credentials as required by ISACS accrediting association. Ability to pass a required background check Organized, self starter who can efficiently move between tasks throughout the day Strong understanding of child growth and development Commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse community as reflected through the curriculum and learning environment. Knowledge and implementation of best practices in student instruction and learning. Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, staff and students. Develop a positive presence in the external community. Previous experience with Great Minds Publishing's Eureka MathPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to effectively and efficiently work in a classroom environment. Ability to work at a desk and computer for a period of time. Ability to move about a multi level building.
