ROLE AND PURPOSE
To provide support to students experiencing difficulties mastering content and performance standards. This position is dedicated to working directly with students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certifications:
Teaching Certificate issued by Texas Education Agency ESL Certification, required.
Experience:
Minimum five years classroom teaching experience Knowledge of student intervention strategies such as; iStation, Think through Math, Daily Five, Imagine Learning, Leveled Literacy Intervention, SIPPS, Reading Recovery, BUILD and Number Corner is preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
INSTRUCTIONAL
MANAGEMENT
Student support (in collaboration with classroom teacher). Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student's culture, learning styles, special needs and socio-economic background Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources, which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and special needs Ensure proper interventions are put in place for struggling students Provide intervention support with effective implementation Maintain academic focus by using a variety of motivational techniques Develop and use assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) to assist the continuous development of learners Establish and use behavior management techniques, which are appropriate and effective Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process Assist with the development and implementation of instructional intervention plans Monitor progress of at-risk students Review and analyze documented student data for needed modification
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
Applies excellent communication and interpersonal skills Communicates with principal, teachers, and staff about student needs and offers support as needed Communicates and models research based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
Maintains a continued awareness of current research and trends in curriculum
MISCELLANEOUS
Performs other duties as may be assigned by campus administrator Duty Days 187 Additional Job Information
FEDERALLY FUNDED
The salary for this position is fully/partially paid from federal funds. Federally funded positions are supplemental and therefore subject to available federal funds. Pay Grade Teacher
