Job Description
Utah Valley University is seeking students to work for approximately 14 weeks in the Fall semester and 14 weeks in the Spring semester on a total of four math projects and visit two K-12 schools four times. Attend and participate in the weekly 2-3 hours afternoon meetings with the program director Provide feedback and work on the materials/projects/games required for a particular project Attend two after-school meetings at each of the participating high schools each semester (the meetings will be on Thursday, 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm) Work on math projects with the participating high school students Mentor the participating high school students Share one's own personal experience as a math/math ed/science major and being an undergraduate student in general Be a role model for the high school students Promote the value of a college education to high school students Encourage high school students to (further) study mathematics Must be a current UVU Student in math, math ed, and/or science majors. Good academic standing (GPA at least 3.0) Have taken at least one upper-level math class (above Calculus) (preferably proof proof-based class), but other candidates would be considered upon good teachers' recommendations. Able to communicate and present math ideas clearly Willing and able to work with high school students on math projects Demonstrate good working skills/ethics (being punctual and being able to carry out the assignments in a timely manner)
