Job Description

ANNOUNCEMENT
Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Mathematics Faculty position within the Mathematics Division. The anticipated start date is August 2, 2027.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this position will serve as an instructor in the Mathematics Division. The successful applicant will develop, teach, and maintain courses (arithmetic through university transfer) in the Mathematics & Computer Sciences department. The applicant will also assess student performance and collaborate with other faculty within the department to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction in the program(s). Opportunities exist for participation in professional development activities and service on departmental, divisional, and/or college-wide committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's degree in mathematics with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in Mathematics required. 2. Two years of successful college or high school teaching experience strongly preferred. 3. Community college teaching experience at all levels, including developmental, strongly preferred. 4. Willingness and ability to develop and teach courses using alternative delivery methods preferred. 5. Experience in outcomes assessment preferred. 6. Experience in working with diverse student populations preferred. 7. Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.
SALARY :
This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule. For example, the minimum 2027-2028 starting salary at Step 1 on the Master's degree column is $54,087. The actual starting salary is determined by educational attainment level and experience. Voluntary overload and summer teaching assignments may also be available, which may increase the annual compensation. The College offers a comprehensive, flexible benefits program.
