Posting Details Position Information Posting Number F000495 Position Title Department Chair and Tenure-Track, Mathematics Education (Open Rank) Department Mathematics and Actuarial Science Division Academic Affairs Faculty Status Full-time Faculty Supervisor Title Dean, College of Arts & Sciences Status Full-time Tenure-Track Faculty Tenure Track Yes Salary Range $72,000 to $88,000 Position Summary The Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics education, to begin August 1, 2027. The duties in this role include: Provide instruction for a variety of mathematics and mathematics education courses, including elementary and secondary methods courses, carrying a teaching load equivalent to 20 credits per academic year. Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions and independent study opportunities. Pursue research activities in mathematics education, including new research projects, writing/dissemination of research, and presentation at conferences. Engage students in research when possible. As Coordinator of Mathematics Education, provide oversight for all mathematics education courses in keeping content aligned with NCTM and MAA standards and build connections with the mathematics education community in the local area. As department chair, provide leadership to the unit, including overseeing curriculum, staffing courses, evaluating and mentoring faculty, advising the Dean, and serving as liaison to other campus offices.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications are required at the time of application. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in mathematics or mathematics education, or an EdD in mathematics education and an MS/MA in mathematics. PK-12 Educator License Preferred (current or expired) Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship. Applicants must demonstrate effective leadership in managing a department.Salary Range:
