Job Description:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at DCC invites applications for part-time faculty in Mathematics. The department is searching for instructors to teach one or more of the following courses: MAT 099
- Intermediate Algebra (3 contact hours/week) MAT 109
- Survey of Mathematics (3 contact hours/week) MAT 118
- Elementary Statistics (3 contact hours/week) MAT 131
- Technical Mathematics I (3 contact hours/week) MAT 132
- Technical Mathematics II (3 contact hours/week) MAT 184
- College Algebra and Trigonometry (3 contact hours/week) MAT 185
- Precalculus (4 contact hours/week)
MAT 221/MAT222/MAT223
- Calculus I, II, and III (4 contact hours per week each) MAT 224
- Differential Equations (4 contact hours per week) MAT 215
- Liner Algebra (3 contact hours per week) MAT 214
- Discrete Mathematics with Proofs (3 contact hours per week) Courses are taught in Traditional/In-Person, Hybrid, and Asynchronous online instructional modes.
In-person classes take place at our main campus in Poughkeepsie and our DCC@Fishkill location, the Center of Excellence for Business, Industry, and Innovation (COEBII). Courses are held in the daytime and the evenings. Part-time faculty teach assigned class material in accordance with learning objectives developed by the department.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field. Official transcripts required upon hire. Experience teaching at the college level. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching at a community college. Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners. An understanding an appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas. A commitment to diversity and an understanding of how diversity impacts learning and instruction.

Working Conditions:
The performance of this work is done primarily in-person and on-site or remote, depending on instructional mode. Courses are held at the main campus in Poughkeepsie and at COEBII at DCC@Fishkill. Courses are held in the daytime and the evenings.
Classification:
Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Part-Time Educator Part-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educations (DUE).
Salary:
At negotiated rate, starting at $1,499 per contact hour (Instructor, Step 1)
