Applied Mathematics and Statistics Department Chair Position The State University of New York (SUNY) Koreainvites exceptional candidates for the Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) Department Chair position. About the Department of Applied Mathematicsand Statistics at SUNY Korea The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics provides in-depth study of applicablemathematical techniques and problem-solving strategies. Its diverse programs help students learn analytical skills and statistical ways ofthinking, opening a door for various job fields including AI, data science, finance, actuarial science, medicine, and various otherapplication areas. More information about the department is available from its website: https://ams.sunykorea.ac.kr/ams/ The Role of Department Chair Reporting directly to the Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs, the Chair will providestrategic leadership for the department, championing innovation and excellence in research and education. This role is ideal for acollaborative leader passionate about advancing applied mathematics and statistics education and research within a global academicenvironment. The Chair will manage and inspire a talented faculty, oversee departmental resources, advance the department's growth, andstrengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including industry and funding partners. The Chair will also partner with SBU toenhance its academic and research programs.

Develop and promote a forward-looking vision for departmental growth and fostering a culture of collaboration andinnovation.
Strategic Engagement:
Strengthen relationships with industry, government, and academic partners toenhance research impact and funding opportunities.
Academic Excellence:
Foster, advocate, and promotecutting-edge, innovative undergraduate and graduate curricula in partnership with SBU. Drive student recruitment, including internationalrecruitment, accreditation, curricular assessment and advancement, and retention efforts, ensuring SUNY Korea's reputation as a leader inapplied mathematics and statistics education in Asia.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: A Ph. D. in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, orStatistics, preferably from a U.S.-based institution. Fluency in English Academic rank of a tenured faculty member,preferably at the full-professor level. A distinguished teaching, research, and scholarship record, preferably in a U.S.-basedinstitution. Demonstrated academic leadership experience and a commitment to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion amongfaculty, students, and staff. Ability to develop and sustain relationships with industry partners, funding agencies, donors, andalumni. A record of successful administrative experience managing personnel, budgets, and operations in an academic setting ispreferred but not required.
