Job Description

Position Overview Athena Coding is hiring dependable after-school enrichment instructors to lead engaging, hands-on classes for elementary and middle school students in the South Bay/Peninsula. Fall 2026 opportunities may be available in Burlingame, San Bruno, and San Carlos. You do not need to be an expert in every subject. Athena provides the curriculum, lesson plans, activity instructions, and materials. We are looking for instructors who enjoy working with children, can follow provided plans, and can create a positive, well-managed classroom. Schedule Classes begin between September 1 and September 18, 2026 and generally run for 6-12 weeks. Most classes are one hour per day, 1-4 days per week, typically on weekday afternoons between approximately 2:50 and 5:40 PM. Some class options may include Saturday or occasional morning times.
Current opportunities may include:
  • Burlingame:
    Monday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons, generally 3:10-4:25 PM
  • San Bruno:
    Tuesday-Friday afternoon classes, generally 3:30-4:30 PM, plus some Saturday options
San Carlos:
Monday afternoon classes, generally 4:40-5:40 PM Instructors may be scheduled for one or multiple weekly classes based on program needs, candidate fit, and availability. Candidates must be able to commit reliably to every date for any class they accept. Programs may include LEGO, Minecraft, coding, Roblox, Dungeons & Dragons, theatre, jewelry, art, filmmaking, science, magic, and other enrichment topics. Responsibilities
  • Review provided lesson plans before class
  • Lead engaging, hands-on enrichment activities
  • Explain instructions clearly and age-appropriately
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom
  • Supervise students during instruction, transitions, and dismissal
  • Organize materials and complete setup and cleanup
  • Track attendance and communicate reliably with Athena staff Qualifications
  • Experience working with children through teaching, tutoring, camps, childcare, coaching, or similar work
  • Reliable, punctual, organized, and comfortable leading a group of students
  • Able to follow prepared lesson plans and manage classroom materials
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills
  • Able to travel reliably to class locations in the South Bay/Peninsula
  • Able to complete required school-site background checks and clearances Experience with a specific enrichment subject is helpful but not required. Training, lesson plans, and materials are provided. Compensation
  • $40-50 per hour, depending on experience
