Job Summary At Star Poodlez (we recently rebranded our name from Space Poodlez to Star Poodlez), we specialize in providing truly memorable birthday party, corporate and school/afterschool event, and yoga/dance class experiences with our designer puppies. We bring our adorable teacup poodlez straight to any location for a magical, fun, educational and fabulous celebration. We set up very fun, interactive and instagram worthy puppy play experiences at various functions whether that's at parties, corporate events or academic settings. We are seeking a passionate and energetic PAWS Professor/After School Instructor/Teacher to inspire and engage children through dynamic educational and recreational activities. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to foster youth development, promote positive behavior, and create a safe, nurturing environment for children of various ages. This is not a traditional tutoring job — and it is definitely not simply bringing puppies to school for playtime.

PAWS TO LEARN

® is a structured educational experience that uses specially selected Star Poodlez® to help children explore STEM concepts, social-emotional learning, communication, observation, problem solving, self-regulation, responsibility, and connection. Our curriculum and materials are provided. We teach you how to deliver the program. What we need from you is the personality, reliability, judgment, and presence to make the experience come alive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

as a

Poodle Professor:

You will independently lead small groups of students through our

PAWS TO LEARN

® curriculum.

A typical class combines:

Hands-on STEM exploration Social-emotional learning Guided interaction with a Star Poodle Observation and discussion Student workbook activities Games and demonstrations Structured opportunities for students to practice communication, empathy, responsibility, and self-regulation. The puppies are an important part of the program — but the learning is the purpose. Most classes are approximately 50-60 minutes and take place after school. Programs generally run as multi-week sessions, so instructors should be able to commit to their assigned schools for the duration of a program.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Our strongest Poodle Professors are people who can walk into a room of children and immediately create a positive, organized, enthusiastic environment. You do not need to be a credentialed teacher. You do not need a science degree. You do need to be comfortable learning a curriculum, following established procedures, managing a classroom, and working confidently and compassionately with both children and dogs. This position may be especially well suited for: Teachers and teaching assistants

• College students studying education, psychology, child development, communication, theater, or related fields Camp counselors After-school instructors
• Tutors
• Coaches Actors and performers Children's entertainers Youth program leaders People with experience working with animals and children A warm, outgoing personality is a major plus.

WHAT MATTERS TO US

You can engage a room. Our program is interactive. We want instructors who can communicate with children clearly, enthusiastically, and naturally. You can also calm a room. High energy is important — but so is control. Our instructors must be able to transition students from excitement around the dogs into focused observation, discussion, and learning. You genuinely enjoy children. You should be comfortable leading groups of young students, answering lots of questions, redirecting behavior positively, and making every child feel included. You are confident around dogs. You do not need to be a professional dog trainer, but you must be extremely comfortable handling and working around dogs. Training in our specific protocols will be provided. You are reliable. Schools depend on us. Children are waiting for us. And a live animal is part of the program. Showing up late or cancelling casually simply doesn't work in this position.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must: 1. Be at least 18 years old. 2. Have experience working with children. Experience managing groups of children is strongly preferred. 3. Be comfortable working closely with dogs. 4. Have reliable transportation and be able to travel to assigned schools throughout your designated service area. 5. Be able to safely transport program materials and, depending upon assignment, a Star Poodle and associated supplies. 6. Have general weekday afternoon availability, typically between approximately 1:30 PM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. 7. Be able to arrive at the school approximately 15 minutes before class for check-in, setup, and preparation. 8. Be able to commit to the full length of an assigned multi-week program whenever possible. 9. Pass all required background checks and school-site screening requirements. 10. Follow

You are not expected to create lesson plans. Every Poodle Professor receives training in the

® teaching system, including: Complete lesson plans, Instructor guides, Student workbooks

• STEM and SEL learning objectives, Classroom-management techniques, Scripts and teaching prompts, Dog-interaction protocols, Student safety procedures, Materials and activity instructions, Training on the Star Poodlez® used in the program.

Our goal is to give instructors enough structure to deliver a consistently excellent program while still allowing their own personality to come through.

Your job is to turn that excitement into curiosity, learning, communication, self-regulation, and connection. One lesson might ask students to observe how a dog uses its senses. Another might explore body language and communication. Another may use movement, patterns, habitats, engineering, responsibility, or problem-solving as the starting point. The dog helps open the door. The Poodle Professor turns that moment into learning.

: Poodle Professors are expected to take ownership of the full classroom experience. That includes arriving prepared, checking in with the school, setting up materials, preparing the dog, taking attendance, leading the lesson, maintaining appropriate student/dog interactions, cleaning the space, packing materials, and completing required post-class communication. TRAININGPAWS TO LEARN

® provides training before instructors independently lead programs. Training covers both teaching the curriculum and working within our dog-assisted classroom environment. We are not looking for someone who already knows everything. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about learning our approach and becoming an excellent Poodle Professor.

SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position primarily during weekday after-school hours. Individual instructors may teach several classes per week depending upon availability, geography, school schedules, and enrollment. Schedules may vary by semester. Applicants with broad Monday-Friday afternoon availability will generally have the greatest opportunity for assignments. Additional opportunities may become available for instructors interested in camps, school-day programs, community experiences, private events, or other Star Poodlez® programming.
