About Launch Lab Learning:

Launch Lab Learning brings hands-on invention, design thinking, and entrepreneurship to students through afterschool enrichment programs across Los Angeles. Our curriculum brings real-world challenges into the classroom and gives kids the opportunity to imagine, design, build, test, and share their own ideas. Our goal is to help students see themselves as creative problem-solvers who can use their ideas to make a positive impact on the world.

Job Overview:

We're looking for creative, energetic teachers to join our team for weekly afterschool classes this fall. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with kids in a hands-on setting and wants to build their skills and experience leading a classroom. You'll partner with an experienced instructor to bring our invention curriculum to life: leading activities, coaching students through hands-on challenges, and helping create a classroom where kids feel free to imagine, build, experiment, and take creative risks.

Responsibilities:

Teach Launch Lab's hands-on invention curriculum to elementary and/or middle school students Lead engaging activities and guide students through creative design and building challenges Coach and encourage students as they brainstorm, build, test, and improve their ideas Create a collaborative, inclusive classroom where students feel comfortable sharing ideas and taking creative risks Use age-appropriate teaching strategies to make design thinking, invention, and entrepreneurship engaging and accessible Help students work together, solve problems, and build confidence as creative thinkers Prepare and organize classroom materials and help manage setup and cleanup Collaborate closely with your co-teacher to create a positive, well-managed classroom experience Communicate professionally with Launch Lab staff and school-site partners Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment Participate in required training before the start of the program

Qualifications:

Experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children. Camp counseling, tutoring, classroom experience, coaching, and babysitting all count. Reliability and professionalism are a must, including consistent attendance, punctuality, and clear communication. Maturity and sound judgment when working with children. Comfortable leading and engaging a group of kids with energy and confidence. Patient, adaptable, and genuinely enjoys working with kids. Excited about creativity, hands-on learning, and helping kids bring their ideas to life. Available 2-3 afternoons per week. Reliable transportation to school sites across the South Bay. Must be able to pass required background checks, including Live Scan/fingerprinting. Prior experience in an afterschool enrichment setting is a plus, but not required — we'll train you on our curriculum and methods. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Schedule & Location:

Teachers typically teach one or two 1-hour classes per day, with class times generally falling between 1:15-4:15 PM. Classes are held at school sites across the South Bay.
