Breakaway Academy CT is a unique hockey academy designed to develop well-rounded student-athletes. Our students, in grades 3 through 9, complete hockey training in the mornings and then transition to a rigorous academic curriculum in the afternoons. We are committed to fostering excellence both on the ice and in the classroom.

Position Overview:

Breakaway Academy CT is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and flexible Part-Time Teacher to provide academic instruction to student-athletes in a small-group learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching and is comfortable working in a non-traditional school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction in core academic subjects (Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies) for students in grades 4-9 Support individual learning plans and adjust instruction to meet a variety of student needs Maintain a positive, focused classroom environment that promotes both academic achievement and character development Collaborate with the Director of Education and other teaching staff to ensure academic alignment and support Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and families as needed Encourage a growth mindset and promote time management, study skills, and personal responsibility Assist with classroom supervision, transitions, and student support as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree is required. Major in Education or other related field preferred Valid teaching certification preferred but not required Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students preferred Ability to teach across multiple grade levels and/or subjects Strong communication and classroom management skills Flexible, team-oriented, and passionate about student success Familiarity or comfort with student-athlete lifestyles is a plus
