Middle School Science Teacher Summit Academy Charter School is seeking a qualified, dedicated, and student-centered Middle School Science Teacher to join our instructional team. Position Summary The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction for students in Grades 6-8. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong science content knowledge, effective classroom management, professionalism, and a commitment to student achievement. The teacher will use assessment data, instructional best practices, hands-on learning experiences, and differentiated supports to promote student mastery of the Florida science standards. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned middle school science instruction. Implement the school's adopted science curriculum and instructional resources with fidelity. Provide laboratory, inquiry-based, and hands-on learning opportunities when appropriate. Use classroom assessments, benchmark data, and state assessment results to guide instructional decisions. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students performing at varying academic levels. Provide targeted remediation, intervention, and enrichment. Maintain accurate grades, attendance records, assessment data, and instructional documentation. Establish and maintain a structured, safe, and academically focused classroom environment. Clearly communicate instructional objectives, expectations, and academic vocabulary. Monitor student progress and provide timely, meaningful feedback. Collaborate with fellow teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators during planning, data meetings, and professional development. Communicate professionally and consistently with students and families. Implement required accommodations and instructional supports for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and other identified learning needs. Participate in schoolwide testing, intervention, professional development, and student support initiatives. Support the school's commitment to high expectations, academic excellence, and continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Florida Educator Certificate, Statement of Eligibility, or eligibility for appropriate Florida certification. Appropriate certification in science or eligibility to obtain certification for the assigned grade levels. Strong knowledge of science content and effective instructional practices. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to analyze student data and use results to inform instruction. Preferred Qualifications Previous middle school science teaching experience. Florida certification in General Science 5-9 , Science 6-12, Biology 6-12, or another applicable certification area. Knowledge of Florida science standards and state assessment expectations. Experience with inquiry-based science instruction, laboratory activities, and project-based learning. Experience using student achievement data for intervention and instructional planning. Experience in a high-performing charter school or similarly rigorous academic environment.
