This team member understands that aftercare is an extension of the Kidz College experience and should reflect the same level of excellence, organization, supervision, cleanliness, and care expected throughout the school day. Our goal is not simply to supervise children until pickup. Our After-School Teachers create an environment where students can decompress after school, complete homework, build friendships, participate in meaningful activities, and end their day feeling safe, supported, and valued.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Supervision & Safety Maintain active supervision of students at all times. Know the location and activity of every child assigned to your care. Follow all student check-in, attendance, dismissal, and authorized pickup procedures. Maintain accurate student counts during all transitions. Follow all Kidz College health, safety, emergency, and supervision procedures. Immediately communicate injuries, incidents, behavioral concerns, or unusual situations to administration. Homework & Academic Support Provide a structured homework period and assist students when appropriate. Encourage students to take responsibility for completing assignments and organizing their belongings. Provide quiet activities for students who do not have homework. Incorporate age-appropriate reading, STEM, educational games, or enrichment opportunities. Engagement & Programming Plan and facilitate fun, age-appropriate activities rather than relying on unstructured free time. Lead activities such as arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, STEM challenges, group competitions, reading, movement, and special projects. Create opportunities that promote teamwork, leadership, creativity, and positive social interaction. Keep students engaged while still allowing appropriate time to relax after the school day. Behavior & Classroom Management Establish clear expectations and maintain consistent routines. Use positive redirection and developmentally appropriate behavior-management strategies. Model respectful communication and teach students to resolve conflicts appropriately. Maintain a calm, professional presence even during challenging situations. Communicate recurring behavioral concerns to administration. Environment & Quality Control Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming after-school environment. Ensure materials and supplies are properly stored and cared for. Complete routine wipe-downs and cleaning throughout the afternoon. Ensure spaces are reset and ready for the following school day. Take pride in the appearance of all Kidz College spaces. Parent & Family Experience Greet families professionally and positively during pickup. Ensure students are clean, prepared, and ready to leave when parents arrive. Communicate appropriately with families while referring significant concerns or incidents to administration. Protect student and family confidentiality at all times.

DAILY EXPECTATIONS

Each day, the After-School Teacher should be prepared to manage: Arrival → Snack → Homework/Academic Time → Enrichment/Activities → Outdoor or Gross-Motor Play → Pickup Preparation → Dismissal → Closing & Reset Students should never experience an afternoon that feels chaotic, unplanned, or simply like they are waiting for their parents.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with school-age children preferred. Strong classroom-management and communication skills. Ability to lead activities and engage groups of children. Dependable, punctual, energetic, and organized. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and administration. Must meet all applicable childcare/school employment, background-screening, and training requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, stand and move for extended periods, participate in activities, assist with classroom setup and cleanup, and respond quickly when student safety requires intervention.
