Middle School Reading/ELA Teacher - Grades 6-8 SLAM! Palm Beach is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Middle School Intensive Reading Teacher to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate is passionate about literacy development and skilled at providing targeted, data-driven reading instruction to students who require additional academic support. The Intensive Reading Teacher will provide differentiated, evidence-based reading instruction designed to strengthen students' decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and overall literacy skills. The teacher will use student assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify individual learning needs, plan appropriate interventions, and monitor student growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned intensive reading instruction for middle school students. Provide explicit, systematic, and differentiated reading instruction based on individual student needs. Use screening, diagnostic, classroom, and progress-monitoring data to identify areas of reading deficiency and guide instruction. Implement evidence-based reading interventions and instructional strategies aligned with Florida standards and school expectations. Provide small-group and individualized instruction when appropriate. Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction and interventions based on student performance. Maintain accurate student records, assessment data, grades, intervention documentation, and progress-monitoring information. Collaborate with ELA teachers, ESE staff, instructional coaches, administrators, and other support personnel to improve student achievement. Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, professional development, and student-support meetings. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas of need. Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment. Implement accommodations, interventions, IEP requirements, 504 Plans, and other student support plans as applicable. Perform additional instructional and professional responsibilities consistent with the expectations of a classroom teacher. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Must hold or be eligible for a valid Florida Educator Certificate . Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification required/preferred based on assignment and Florida requirements for intensive reading instruction. Experience teaching reading, English Language Arts, or reading intervention at the middle school level preferred. Knowledge of evidence-based reading practices, differentiated instruction, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction. Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students and motivate struggling readers. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching Intensive Reading or Reading Intervention . Experience working with students performing below grade level in reading. Familiarity with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and secondary literacy expectations. Experience working with ESE, ESOL, and other diverse student populations. Reading Endorsement or Reading K-12 Certification.
