STEAMSPORT, INC. OVERVIEW
STEAMsport, Inc.'s mission is to expose youth from underserved communities to STEAM concepts and activities at a young age, therefore creating a pipeline leading to secondary education and STEAM related careers. Under the direction of the After School Program Director, After School Program Instructor will be responsible for implementing academic and enrichment programs at the assigned location. This position requires a person who is able to work in a bustling environment with many distractions. The ideal candidate will exude vivacious energy and a great deal of laughter and joy. Safety is of the utmost of importance, thus planning and preparing is paramount. Duties may frequently call for activities outdoors in varying weather conditions resulting in exposure to sunny, wet, humid, or other conditions. Responsibilities Conduct one-on-one and/or small group sessions in various subjects, adapting methods to meet the needs of each student. Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents. Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation. Utilize effective teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, games, and technology to enhance learning experiences. Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement. Stay updated on educational best practices and participate in professional development opportunities. Provide guidance and structure for volunteers. Qualifications Previous experience in education, particularly with children Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs is a plus Knowledge of first aid is beneficial for ensuring a safe learning environment Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and parents alike A patient, compassionate approach to teaching that encourages student growth and self-esteem Ability to create a fun and engaging atmosphere while educating students
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must pass criminal background check and fingerprinting At least one year experience working with youth in an after school, or recreation environment Program Hours are Monday - Thursday 2-6 pm. Afterschool program is closed when the school system is closed (Holidays, School Breaks, Teacher Work Days, etc.)
