advances youth mental skills and well-being through neuroscience-informed education and technology-enhanced experiences in schools and community settings. Programs blend brain education with tools like VR, neurofeedback, and mindful attention training to help young people build focus, resilience, and motivation. Role Summary The Neuroscience Instructor delivers engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences aligned to AREACH's curriculum—introducing brain basics (neuroplasticity, attention, stress & emotion regulation, sleep), guiding structured neuromeditation/mindfulness practice, and facilitating tech-enabled activities (e.g., EEG headsets, VR modules, simple brain-computer interface demos). You'll teach at multiple partner sites across the Atlanta area, track student growth, and help maintain program equipment. Key Responsibilities Teach interactive neuroscience lessons and mental-skills workshops for youth (approx. ages 8-24) using AREACH's lesson plans, slide decks, and activity guides. Facilitate hands-on stations (e.g., basic EEG/neurofeedback demos, VR attention/relaxation modules) with clear safety and consent protocols. Lead brief, developmentally appropriate neuromeditation/mindfulness sessions to support self-regulation and stress reduction. Build positive, culturally responsive classroom climates; apply trauma-informed practices. Travel to and set up at schools and community partner sites; manage attendance, materials, and equipment care. Monitor and document student engagement and learning (pre/post checks, quick reflections), and provide concise progress notes. Communicate professionally with site staff, caregivers, and AREACH team; uphold safeguarding and data-privacy expectations. Contribute feedback to improve lessons, activities, and implementation tools.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Current college senior majoring in Neuroscience , or Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience (or closely related field with significant neuroscience coursework).
Transportation:
Must have reliable transportation to travel between sites in the Atlanta area. Experience working with youth (tutoring, after-school programs, camps, mentoring, peer instruction, etc.). Strong communication skills; comfort translating scientific ideas into accessible, engaging activities. Professionalism, reliability, and proactive problem-solving in dynamic, school-based or community settings. Ability to pass a background check and meet partner site onboarding requirements. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience facilitating mindfulness/SEL, neuromeditation, or stress-management practices. Familiarity with any of the following: EEG headsets/neurofeedback, VR headsets, basic robotics/BCI demos, learning data collection, or classroom technology troubleshooting. Work Conditions & Logistics In-person instruction across multiple Atlanta partner sites Typical hours align with in school and after-school plus occasional evenings/weekends for events. Physical setup/teardown of portable equipment (lifting up to ~30 lbs).
