Full Job Description Summary Description of Classification:
Provides instruction for students that enables them to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Georgia Performance Standards.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of GPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, Cirrus Academy Charter School policies, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, school-based staff, students, parents and community. Respect for diversity in education. Excellent oral and written communication along with strong human relations skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teaching mathematics to middle school students 2. Show evidence of differentiated instruction for all students by incorporating strategies for engagement, rigor, and climate and culture within the classroom. 3. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in the classroom and workplace. 4. Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents, faculty, and staff. 5. Work collaboratively with mathematics team colleagues. 6. Contribute to and benefit from the school community. 7. Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement. 8. Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students, with high expectations for all students. 9. Provide instructional needs and interests of students with the aid of appropriate and effective daily lesson planning. 10. Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings. 11. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and where classroom time is utilized effectively. 12. Demonstrate the use of a variety of teaching techniques and the use of a variety of instructional resources and materials to implement the essential curriculum. 13. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. 14. Demonstrate fair, firm, and consistent behavior towards students and promote self-discipline among students. 15. Demonstrate effective communication skills and positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, staff, and community. 16. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of Georgia Standard of Excellence by following school board policies and administrative procedures. 17. Assist administrative staff and other staff members in reaching the mission of the school by applying ethical standards in professional relationships. 18. Strive to maintain and improve professional competencies. 19. Maintain appropriate records. 20. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. 21. Serve on special committees. 22. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Secondary Education with a concentration in Middle Grades Math, Middle Grades Science, or Mathematics (6-12), and/or Science (6-12) from an accredited college or university and meet the GaPSC requirements for certification. Cirrus Academy Charter School will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities to allow them to perform the essential functions of the job when such individuals request an accommodation so long as the accommodation does not create an undue financial hardship for the district.
