Step Into the Hangar Classroom Picture this: the lab doors open, students gather around a wing section, and you guide them through a hands-on diagnostic exercise. By afternoon, you're mentoring a small group on troubleshooting avionics. You wrap up the day reviewing safety protocols and celebrating a student's first pass on a systems check. That's a day in the life of an Aircraft Systems Maintenance Educator at Universal Technical Institute. Why This Role Already a skilled aviation maintenance technician and ready to lead from the front? Teaching experience isn't required—if you bring the drive, patience, and technical know-how, we'll train you to teach. Few things are more rewarding than watching a student you coached launch a career in modern aviation maintenance. What You'll Do Inspire and educate: Build an engaging, inclusive learning space that sparks curiosity and confidence in aviation maintenance.
Hands-on training:
Demonstrate real-world practices for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing aircraft systems and components.
Shape the curriculum:
Collaborate with education teams to refine courses and develop new content aligned with current industry trends.
Mentor with purpose:
Coach students through projects, encouraging critical thinking and inventive problem-solving.
Lead with safety:
Model and enforce safety procedures and best practices to maintain a secure learning environment. What You'll Bring High school diploma or GED 3-5 years of practical experience in aviation maintenance FAA A&P license preferred; if yours isn't current, we'll cover the cost for you to obtain it Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Patience and empathy for learners at different stages Compensation & Benefits $35-$40 per hour, with opportunities for overtime Weekends OFF Paid Training to help you transition from technician to educator
