After-School Academic Support Program Leader (Homework Club) HOURS 2:30-4:30 Monday-Thursday

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the building principal and/or program supervisor, supervise students in the after-school Homework Club and provide homework and academic support to students ages 11-14 in a safe, structured environment. Monitor attendance and behavior, assist with arrival and dismissal, communicate professionally with staff and families, and follow district policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS 1.

Experience working with children or youth preferred, supervising and supporting students with homework or academic tasks. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to stay organized and manage attendance and materials. Work collaboratively with staff, students, and families and use sound judgment and remain professional. Basic computer skills required. 3. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the building as needed, and to escort students and respond appropriately in emergency situations. 4. Basic academic subjects, study skills, and positive behavior support strategies appropriate for middle school students. 5. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have completed two years of college (minimum of 32 credits), hold an associate degree or higher, or have a passing score on the ParaPro Praxis test.

Desired:

Experience working in a school or after-school program preferred. Ability to build positive relationships with middle school students strongly desired.
