Job Description
Position Overview:
The School Age After-School Counselor is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-aged children during Ela Township's Homework Club Program. This role involves planning and leading activities, assisting with homework, and fostering positive social interactions. The ideal candidate is energetic, reliable, and passionate about supporting the growth and development of children. The typical work week is Monday - Friday, from 3:00pm - 5:30pm.Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children during after-school hours.
- Plan and facilitate a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, games, and educational projects.
- Provide homework assistance and encourage academic progress.
- Promote positive behavior and social skills by modeling and reinforcing respect, responsibility, and cooperation.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child's experiences and any concerns.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a cohesive and supportive program environment.
- Assist with snack distribution, cleanup, and other daily routines.
- Uphold program policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and welcoming space.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least a minimum age of 16 years old.
- Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in an educational or recreational setting.
- Ability to manage groups of children and address behavior challenges effectively.
- Enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to fostering a positive environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during training).
- Availability during after-school hours, Monday through Friday.
Work Environment:
- Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor activities as part of the program.
- Physical activity, including standing, walking, and participating in activities, is required.
- May involve lifting and moving light equipment or supplies.
