Contract LEGO Robotics Instructor (Part-Time / 7-Week Sessions)

$45.00 per 2-hour session (Equivalent to $22.50 / hour )
Schedule:
Begins week of Aug 17 | Flexible Monday
  • Thursday | 3:45 PM
  • 5:45 PM (Instruction runs 4:00 PM
  • 5:45 PM; 3:45 PM arrival for prep).
Term:
7-week instructional blocks with seasonal breaks. Position Overview The Renzi Education and Art Center seeks a knowledgeable and structured LEGO Robotics Instructor to facilitate our upcoming 7-week youth enrichment session. Utilizing the LEGO Spike Prime ecosystem, you will guide an intimate cohort of students through hands-on engineering challenges, mechanical builds, and block-based coding. Our classes are intentionally kept small— typically capped at 4 to 5 students per instructor —allowing you to provide high-quality, individualized mentorship without the burden of large-scale classroom management. Renzi provides all Spike Prime hardware, learning software, charging stations, and auxiliary classroom supplies.
Key Responsibilities Facilitate STEM Learning:
Guide small groups of students through building and programming robots using LEGO Spike Prime kits, adapting existing LEGO Education lesson plans to fit the pace of the room.
Mentor Small Cohorts:
Provide direct, individualized technical support to a micro-class of max 5 students, fostering critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
Hardware & Kit Management:
Ensure all Spike Prime kits, bricks, and smart hubs are organized, accounted for, and properly stored/plugged in at the end of each session.
Professional Alignment:
Arrive punctually at 3:45 PM for room setup, and maintain brief, routine communication with the Program Director regarding student milestones or hardware needs. Refined Qualifications Given the nature of the Spike Prime platform and our compensation structure, this role is ideally suited for engineering/computer science students, tech hobbyists, makers, or educators with a passion for applied STEM.
Technical Familiarity:
Prior experience with LEGO Education systems (Spike Prime, Mindstorms, or EV3) or block-based coding languages (like Scratch) is highly preferred.
Instructional Capability:
Ability to guide youth through multi-step technical projects, troubleshooting mechanical issues and code "bugs" patiently.
Organizational Skills:
Meticulous attention to detail regarding inventory management (keeping Lego components organized is vital to the program's success).
Reliability:
Punctuality for the 3:45 PM arrival time.
Background Screening:
Must successfully pass a standard criminal background check prior to the contract start date.
