Job Description
We are seeking a creative, warm, and proactive Afterschool Group Leader/Teacher to join our team at Temple Ohabei Shalom (TOS) Afterschool Programs, HomeBASE. HomeBASE is our innovative, secular out-of-school-time program that provides high-quality afterschool care for children in kindergarten through fifth grade in Public Schools of Brookline.
Responsibilites:
Lead and supervise a group of children in the afterschool and enrichment program, ensuring their health, safety, well-being, and positive development at all times. Facilitate engaging, goal-oriented activities aligned with the TOS Afterschool Programs curriculum, including enrichment activities, physical activities, homework support, and community-building experiences. Remain actively present and engaged with students throughout all program components while adhering to State required teacher-to-child ratios, including walking bus, snack time, playground supervision, homework help, transitions, and special activities. Provide nurturing care, consistent classroom management, and developmentally appropriate guidance while role modeling positive behavior and language. Able to walk up to one mile in all weather conditions for daily walking bus. Maintain open, professional, and positive communication with parents, staff, directors, and community members while fostering a collaborative team environment. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, health and safety procedures, state licensing regulations, and confidentiality standards, including promptly reporting and documenting accidents, injuries, illnesses, behavioral concerns, or suspected abuse, and following all emergency procedures as required. Support daily program operations including setup, cleanup, organization of classrooms and shared spaces, inventory management, and preparation of materials and supplies. Support with enrichment programs, Vacation Camp, field trips, and other special projects under the TOS Afterschool Programs umbrella. Attend family engagement events. Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions. Maintain punctuality, reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and creating a fun, supportive learning environment.
Typical hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm Friday 12:30 - 5:30 pm TOS Afterschool Programs calendar typically follows Public Schools of Brookline schedule. Calendar will be available upon hire.
