Job Description

Afterschool Program Coordinator (Part-Time) About the School Harmony Academy is an innovative early education and elementary school committed to nurturing confident, caring, and curious learners through an internationally recognized curriculum and an integrative approach to Islamic values. Position Summary Harmony Academy is seeking a warm, energetic, and dependable Afterschool Program Lead to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for students in Preschool through 3rd Grade during our afterschool program. The Afterschool Leader will supervise students, facilitate enriching activities, support homework when appropriate, and foster positive relationships. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is creative, and thrives in a collaborative school community. Qualifications High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Experience working with children ages 3-9 in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred. Strong understanding of child development and positive behavior management strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable, organized, and able to work independently while collaborating with school staff. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Preferred Qualifications Experience leading enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, STEM, sports, games, or outdoor recreation. Arabic language proficiency and/or familiarity with Islamic values and practices. Experience working in diverse or multicultural educational settings. Previous experience in an afterschool or extended-day program. EEC Certified or willingness to work towards certification Key Responsibilities Provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students in Preschool through 3rd Grade. Coordinate with and support external enrichment programs/organizations who provide specialized afterschool programming Supervise students during indoor and outdoor play, enrichment activities, snack time, and transitions. Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and social-emotional development. Support students with homework and independent reading as appropriate. Foster positive behavior using respectful guidance and restorative practices. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students by following school policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting afterschool environment. Communicate professionally with families and school staff regarding student needs and daily activities. Model kindness, responsibility, respect, and Islamic values in all interactions with students. Participate in occasional staff meetings or professional development as requested. Compensation Part-time position (approximately 15 hours per week) Monday-Friday, 2:45 PM
