Job Description

LOWELL PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Extended Time Programs 2026-27

Position:

Teachers (number to be determined by site budget)

Reports To:

After School Site Manager/Administrator

Dates of Employment:

September 2026

•June 2027 (determined by site schedule)

Requirements/Qualifications:

Certified Teacher in the Lowell Public Schools

Instructional experience at the School Site preferred

Instructional experience working in an after school academic enrichment program preferred

Terms of Employment:

Before and After school-2024/2025 School Year

•2.5 hours per day / 1 to 5 days per week per site

Approximate program duration: 28 weeks

30 minutes of prep per week for lesson planning, not to exceed 15 hours annually

Bi-monthly staff meetings during after school time

Professional development workshops after school two times throughout the program

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide project based instruction and/or assistance to students in the extended time academic enrichment programs incorporating curricula and objectives that extend the regular school day curriculum.
• Maintain daily attendance and record keeping.
• Plan lessons/activities as required and/or necessary.
• Submit lesson/unit plans to site manager.
• Provide students opportunities to interact socially with other students in a variety of academic and enrichment programs.
• Assess and evaluate student achievement via pre/post testing and performance

•based assessments aligned with the Survey of After-School Youth Outcomes (SAYO) or other district survey tool; assist students with SAYO testing on computers.

Report on student progress to Site Manager, Coordinator of Special Programs and families when appropriate

Assist in the completion of DESE assessment reports.

Perform such other tasks as related to the goals and objectives of the School Improvement Plan and grant program.
