A Middle or High School Teacher teaches middle school students, usually in grades 6 - 12, in a public or private school. Teaches one subject, or a group of subjects, such as math and science; works with one class all year or teaches different classes of students throughout the day. May mentor students, coach a school team or advise a student club. May specialize in working with students learning English or students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Position Overview:
Are you passionate about working with children in grades K - 4? If so, then the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro North are interested in hearing from YOU! Afterschool Group Leaders are responsible for opening preparation, snack setup, homework help, implementing activities, and clean up during Club hours (2 pm-6 pm Monday through Friday). In addition, the position also provides active supervision and promotes engagement of Club members, and ensures a safe and supportive environment for Club members by promoting positive relationships. Ideal candidates have an outgoing personality with strong leadership qualities. Key Responsibilities :
Supervise and participate alongside members during program times while instructing members with enthusiasm and creativity . Ensure and maintain the mental, physical, and emotional safety, health, and welfare of all students. Maintain the ratio of students to adults in compliance with state regulations Coordinate/ implement interactive learning experiences for children Relate to the children with respect and understanding, and realize you are an adult role model for them. Adhere to and uphold all Club rules and policies. Display BGC values by being the best role model around! Attend all mandatory monthly meetings and training sessions Participate in collaborative programs and events with other department staff and staff from other BGC clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate. Secure and maintain materials, equipment, and other resources belonging to the program area(s), reporting any problems with the equipment/supplies to the respective Unit Director. Maintain a safe and clean program area(s). Other tasks & projects as assigned by your site coordinator. Actively monitor children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure the safety of all children Use positive guidance techniques to promote social, emotional, and de-escalate behavior as it arises
Qualifications :
Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or GED required. Must have a minimum of 9 months of supervised experience in a role serving school- age children and a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children. Passion for a subject matter is a plus (Art, STEM, Phys Ed, Music) Prior experience in a similar role preferred. Knowledge of best practices for instructing and participating in youth-based athletic activities. Must be reliable, resourceful, and dependable Have good organizational skills and an ability to multitask Acquire CPR/First Aid within the first 60 days of employment Acquire all EEC Essentials Training and Staff Orientation within 30 days of employment Skills and experience: Enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals with a true passion for youth development are encouraged to apply. You have excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, patience and emotional resilience, and be able to model healthy behavior while working with youth. Must be creative, adaptable, able to problem solve and be a positive contributor to our team, including co-workers, parents, and participants. Organization-wide responsibilities:
Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by the Boys & Girls Club; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BGC policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BGC, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate BGC staff.

Hours:
2 pm - 6 pm Monday - Friday with monthly half days in accordance with the Stoneham Public School schedule.
