Activity Leader Wayland School Community Programs - BASE Adult position Position Summary An independent activity-planning and group-leadership position responsible for designing and leading engaging recreational and enrichment experiences for Preschool through Grade 5 students. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Develop weekly or monthly activity plans and prepare materials in advance. Plan and lead engaging activities, including arts and crafts, gym games, music and movement, drama, literacy, science, and STEAM experiences. Provide clear activity instructions to Program Aides and Youth Leaders in Training assigned to support the group. Track student attendance and monitor participation and progress. Maintain a safe, productive, inclusive, and positive environment. Complete incident reports and required follow-up documentation accurately and promptly. Communicate professionally with families, colleagues, and school staff regarding routine program matters. Build positive relationships with students, families, volunteers, colleagues, and the school community. Supervise and assist students with eating, hygiene, dressing, toileting, and other personal-care needs when appropriate and when trained to do so. Provide temporary one-to-one or small-group support based on program needs, qualifications, and appropriate training, under the direction of the Site Coordinator or Inclusion Mentor. Support program events, special activities, and community initiatives. Help students build confidence, curiosity, teamwork, leadership, creativity, and age-appropriate academic skills. Attend monthly staff meetings and quarterly professional development sessions. Perform other duties assigned by the WSCP Director. Qualifications At least 2 years of previous experience leading activities for children in a school, recreation, camp, childcare, enrichment, or youth-development setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize, and lead engaging activities. Strong group-management, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to complete documentation and communicate professionally with families and colleagues. Relevant education, certifications, or specialized activity experience may support placement within the pay range. Schedule Flexible schedules are available from 2:00 PM (1:00 PM on Wednesdays) until 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM, 2-5 days per week. Substitute positions may also be available. Pay Rate $24.53-$32.53 per hour Starting pay is determined by directly related experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, scope of responsibility, and internal pay equity. Placement above the minimum rate requires documented qualifications or relevant experience. Additional Requirements and Work Environment Successful completion of a Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.) check, Sexual Offender Registry Information (S.O.R.I.) check, and fingerprint-based background check. Citizenship, residency, or valid work authorization is required. Ability to move throughout classrooms, school buildings, playgrounds, and program spaces and to maintain active student supervision. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
