Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated School Age Teacher to join our team. As a School Age Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds and lives of young children ages 5-15 who attend our after school program and school break programs. You will create a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and develop essential skills for their future. The School Age Teacher will be responsible for providing transportation for our children after school using one of our center vans (Class E required). This position will be responsible for ratio coverage during instructional hours as well. This position would work a typical schedule of 2:00-6:00pm with the possibility of full time during all school breaks. Duties Ensure children feel safe, welcome, and loved; create a relationship with the children. Plan both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program; meeting educational and developmental skills. Provide transportation for children after school using Center van. (before school also if available) Provide lunch break coverage in classrooms as needed if available. (floater portion of position) Meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child. Work with the team in planning themes, lesson plans, and activities; assisting each other as needed. Maintain accurate records including accident reports, medication forms, CACFP meal, and attendance records, as well as precise parent communication within Playground. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Follow all mandated report requirements. Maintain a safe and healthy environment. Complete daily documentation of meals, learning, play, and toileting times in Playground. Perform laundry duties weekly. Complete a deep cleaning checklist of the classroom weekly and seasonally. Rotate and Sanitize toys. Ensure all cubbies and keep appropriate clothes and necessities in order at all times. Including all items being labeled at all times. Keep a clean and organized classroom daily; arrange classroom environments to meet the goals of academics. Be willing to talk to, read to, and sing with children daily during circle times and encourage participation during the morning Praise Assembly. Have open communication during shift changes. Attend in-service training hours (12 training hours per year) and all required staff meetings. Other duties as assigned by the Center Directors or Owners. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Have at least 9 college credit hours or a Current CDA credential, or willingness to obtain within the first 12 months of employment At least 2 years of experience in an early childhood program. Communicate effectively with students, their parents, and all staff. Provide quality, nurturing care to students enrolled in the program. Demonstrate skills to adequately address the developmental needs of students. Assist in conducting and documenting developmental screenings and assessments of children ((one assessment per child every 6 months must be completed)) and communicate progress during teacher-parent conferences. Maintain positive and effective, working relationships with all children, parents, and staff.
