Utilize sound judgment and discretionary skills in accordance with the Gateway Region YMCA policies. Maintain positive relationships with many diverse people, including staff, parents, volunteers and program site administration and demonstrate strong public relation skills. Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times. Maintain an environment that ensures children's safety and well-being.Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities. May serve as support staff based on needs of program participants, ensuring approved levels of support, assistance, and record keeping. Ensure child-receiving support is fully included in all site activities, as much as is reasonable to expect, based upon the level of documented ability. Provide children opportunities to build self-help and independence skills. Ensure zero tolerance for abuse and actively participate in the protection of youth and teens. Performs all other duties assigned. Group Leader - 18 years old + Ensure individual needs of campers are met and supported Responsible for an assigned group of 16 children Develop, prepare and implement curriculum and special events. Responsible for ensuring diverse program experiences for campers each day Actively participate in all trainings, program activities, and special events Review and understand enrollment information and individual needs Ensure safety is priority in all aspects of the program Provide opportunities to build self-help and independence skills Assist and substitute as needed in any child care area with flexibility and positive attitude Demonstrate Teamwork through personal interaction amongst all staff Maintain confidentiality and accurately prepare and provide proper records, documentation and files Communicate professionally and accurately with YMCA staff, participants and families. Keep current on new program activities or special events to assist and enhance programs Group Leader - 16 & 17 years old Ensure individual needs of children are met and supported Responsible for an assigned group of 16 children within view at all times of 18+ Group Leader and or Site Director Develop, prepare and implement curriculum and special events. Responsible for ensuring diverse program experiences for children each day. Actively participate in all training, program activities, and special events. Will not utilize mechanical tools, equipment or ladders Review and understand enrollment information and individual needs Ensure safety is priority in all aspects of the program Provide opportunities to build self-help and independence skills Assist and substitute as needed in any child care role or area with flexibility and positive attitude Demonstrate Teamwork through personal interaction amongst all staff Maintain confidentiality and accurately prepare and provide proper records, documentation and files Communicate professionally and accurately with YMCA staff, participants and families.
