Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM-6:00 PM, plus Early Release Days and Spring Break (full‑day shifts) Position Overview The Afterschool Teacher supports a safe, structured, and positive environment for children ages 5-12. This role focuses on following the daily program schedule, supervising students, assisting with homework, and creating an atmosphere where children feel respected, encouraged, and excited to participate. Key Responsibilities Daily Schedule Support — Follow the established program schedule, transitioning children smoothly between homework time, activities, outdoor play, and dismissal. Homework Assistance — Provide guidance and encouragement during homework time, helping students stay focused and complete assignments. Active Supervision — Maintain attentive, positive supervision both indoors and outdoors to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Outdoor Engagement — Enjoy taking children outside for structured games, free play, and physical activity while promoting teamwork and fun. Classroom Cleanliness — Keep the classroom neat, organized, and ready for daily activities, including light cleanup and resetting spaces. Behavior Guidance — Address minor behavior issues calmly and respectfully using age‑appropriate strategies; never yell, belittle, or shame children. Child Development Awareness — Interact with children in ways that support their social, emotional, and developmental needs, offering patience, nurturing, and positive reinforcement. Required Certifications & Compliance (North Carolina) Must complete BSAC (Basic School Age Care) training upon hiring Must pass a criminal background check to obtain a North Carolina Qualification Letter before hiring Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification upon hiring Must complete all required annual and onboarding trainings as mandated by the program and state regulations
