Responsibilities:
Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times along with a fun and positive environment Ensure children follow program expectation and gym safety guidelines Help maintain a clean, organized and welcoming program space Provide support during snack time, transitions, and daily routines Lead organized activities such as games, crafts and homework time Manage classroom/gym behavior and maintain control of a group of students using positive reinforcement techniques to create a safe, respectful and inclusive environment, while striving for a fun and positive influence to children Provide first aid and respond appropriately to minor injuries following established protocols when necessary Take attendance, keep updated rosters and headcount Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff while maintaining clear communication about program activities and child progress
Requirements:
Strong leadership skills with the capacity to facilitate group activities confidently Excellent child supervision skills combined with patience, creativity, and a positive attitude Strong written and verbal communication skills Dependable, positive, and personable individual Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Flexibility and willingness to work Teacher Work Day Camps, School Holiday Camps and School early release days Act as a back-up driver for the Everest van in the event that the afterschool director is unavailable to drive the afterschool pick-up route. All driving is in the Huntersville NC area USA Gymnastics Volunteer membership (Or willingness to secure this free membership pre-hire) Ability to pass criminal background check through the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI)
Minimum Age:
21 years + clean driving record (due to driving the van for pick up) Must be willing to complete required courses online. These include, but are not limited to: USOC Safesport Course 1+ years experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, babysitting, tutoring, or youth programs is highly valued Familiarity with childhood development principles a plus but not required Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid certifications a plus but not required Hours for this position are set at 2:30-6:15pm, Monday-Friday. Additional hours can be available to interested parties in the form of Teacher Workday/Holiday Camps, Summer Camps, Birthday Parties, Parents Night Out programs and/or coaching gymnastics classes.
