After School Program Job Summary:
As an After School Teacher, your primary responsibility is to create a safe, engaging, and educational environment for students outside regular school hours. You will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that promote learning, social development, and creativity. This role involves effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive after-school experience.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Planning:
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with the educational goals of the after-school program.
  • Integrate a variety of subjects, including homework assistance, STEM activities, arts and crafts, physical activities, and other enrichment programs. 2.
  • Supervision and Safety:
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for students.
  • Supervise children during various activities, ensuring their well-being and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Enforce rules and behavioral expectations to maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere. 3.
  • Homework Assistance:
  • Assist students with their homework, providing guidance and support in understanding and completing assignments.
  • Foster a positive attitude towards learning by helping students build effective study habits. 4.
  • Communication:
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress, activities, and any concerns. 5.
  • Behavior Management:
  • Implement consistent and positive behavior management strategies.
  • Address behavioral issues promptly and communicate with parents when necessary. 6.
  • Enrichment Activities:
  • Organize and facilitate extracurricular activities that cater to diverse interests, such as clubs, sports, arts, and cultural events. 7.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and any incidents.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by program administrators. 8.
  • Professional Development:
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay informed about best practices in after-school education and child development.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with children.
  • Knowledge of educational and child development theories and practices.
