Fair Lawn, NJ Job Details Part-time $28 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications No experience needed Driver's License Full Job Description Mad Science of Northeast NJ is looking for enthusiastic, dependable, and energetic instructors to lead our hands-on science and STEM after-school programs throughout Bergen, Passaic, and Essex Counties.This is a great part-time position for individuals who enjoy working with children, have a positive and engaging personality, and are comfortable leading a classroom.
Position ResponsibilitiesMad Science Instructors travel to local schools to lead fun, interactive STEM enrichment classes using our prepared curriculum and materials.
Responsibilities include: Lead engaging, hands-on science and STEM activities for elementary-aged students Follow Mad Science lesson plans and program curriculum Manage groups of students in a fun, organized, and safe classroom environment Encourage student participation and excitement about science Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled programs Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and the Mad Science office Properly maintain and return program materials and equipment Travel to different schools and program locations throughout our service area
Required AvailabilityAfter-School Programs:
Must be available between approximately 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM Must have availability at least 3 weekdays per week Most classes take place Monday through Friday during after-school hours Additional work available with morning, evening, and weekend availabilityWeekly Equipment Exchange:
Must be available to come to our Fair Lawn location every Friday at 5:30 PM for a weekly equipment and material exchange Mad Science office: 24-08 Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ QualificationsWe are looking for candidates who are: Enthusiastic, energetic, and comfortable working with children Reliable and punctual Able to confidently lead and manage a classroom Organized and able to follow lesson plans Comfortable transporting program materials Able to work independently at different school locations Strong communicators with a professional and positive attitude Previous experience working with children, teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, childcare, or performing is a plus, but science experience is not required. Training and curriculum are provided.Requirements Valid driver's license Reliable transportation Ability to travel to schools throughout our service area Availability at least 3 weekdays between 2:00 PM-5:00 PM Availability every Friday at 5:30 PM in Fair Lawn for equipment exchange Ability to complete required Mad Science training and background screening
