In this dynamic role, you will play a vital part in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children participating in afterschool programs. and out of school camps. Your energy and enthusiasm will help foster positive youth development, promote fun learning experiences, and support children's social and emotional growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your leadership and childcare skills in a lively community setting. Duties Supervise children during afterschool activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Facilitate engaging youth group activities, including arts, games, outdoor play, and educational projects Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques Assist with homework help, tutoring, and educational support tailored to diverse learning needs Implement youth development programs that promote teamwork, leadership, and personal growth Maintain a clean and organized activity space, adhering to safety protocols such as first aid procedures and emergency response plans Collaborate with team members to plan and execute special events, outdoor excursions, and community outreach initiatives Requirements Prior experience working with children in childcare, camp settings, or youth programs is highly preferred Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies Certification in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED operation (Automated External Defibrillator), and First Aid protocols required or obtainable upon hire Strong classroom management skills with the ability to supervise children effectively in various activities Experience working with children with special needs or in inclusive settings is a plus Ability to lead outdoor activities safely and responsibly in outdoor work environments Excellent communication skills to engage children positively and collaborate with team members effectively Demonstrated enthusiasm for youth development, teaching experience with young children preferred Join us at the La Mesa Community Center in New Mexico to inspire young minds through energetic programming while building your skills in youth engagement, team leadership, and child supervision.
