Special Education Certification Teaching Full Job Description Special Education Consultant/Coach Job Description Qualifications:
Master's degree and at least 10+ years of experience in teaching special education in elementary or secondary school and certified to teach special education in NYS Minimum 8 years' experience in classroom setting At least +5 years coaching teachers and conducting professional development. We welcome former and retired education leaders to apply. Must be able to travel to the Queens or Bronx or Brooklyn. Be able to carry 15-20 lbs. upstairs. Must be technologically savvy, can type 50 WPM and multitask in a classroom. Must have experience working with kids with moderate and/or severe disabilities. Youmust be able to work with children with ASD who maybe nonverbal and exhibit self-injurious behaviors. Must be an expert on different disability types, must know special education evidence-based practices, know how to implement behavior interventions, and know AppliedBehavior Analysis Must know the science of reading and writing and literacy and math evidence-basedpractices Must be a reader of current education research and be open to learn/read more educationresearch Must be familiar with NYC curriculum programs such as Fundations, Wilson Phonics,Heggerty, Phonics for Reading, PAF Reading Program, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Expeditionary Learning, Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, Go Math, enVisions, Illustrative Math and other literacy or math curriculum used in NYC Must believe in antiracist education practices and the social constructivist perspective on disability.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK DURING SCHOOL HOURS MUST HAVE A CAR OR BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO REQUIRED BOROUGHS MUST HAVE A NYS TEACHING LICENSE. CANNOT BE CURRENTLY EMPLOYED WITH THE DOE
Excellent presentation, facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills Strong working knowledge of the Next Generation (Common Core) Standards for ELA,Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Experience working with low income, Black and Brown schools. Strong foundation on how to work with adult learners, challenging teachers, and tochange adult mindsets to be more optimistic and teach in an asset-based approach. A high level of comfort discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders. Tech savvy, Excellent Zoom, know how to use promethean board, computer and internetskills including knowledge of Office programs (Outlook, Word, PPT, etc.) Ability to work independently and as part of a co-teaching presentation team.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with the founder of the company and other consultants/coaches and communicating with teachers and leaders. Schedule is highly dependent on customer demand - professional development workshops are scheduled with schools during or after school hours. Must be able to work on Mondays from 2-4:30PM. Facilitate scripted workshops. Opportunities to design and co-facilitate workshops or professional development forschools. Observe and coach teachers and provide tailored on-site support to teachers, coaches, and leaders from 8-12 days a month. Therefore, the consultant/coach must have a flexibleschedule. It is advisable for the coach to have a car. Most of our work is in Queens, Brooklyn andthe Bronx. Engage in internal cycle of professional improvement and development (includingreading education research, being observed, receiving feedback, and being coached) Submit handwritten and detailed typed written coaching notes to teachers and leadershipstaff in a timely manner.

Contracted consultants are paid a set workshop and daily rate and will be paid for meetings and prep time.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary, ranging from $100-$125/hour for consultant/coaching services and adjusted rates for meetings and prep time.
