A Middle or High School Teacher teaches middle school students, usually in grades 6 - 12, in a public or private school. Teaches one subject, or a group of subjects, such as math and science; works with one class all year or teaches different classes of students throughout the day. May mentor students, coach a school team or advise a student club. May specialize in working with students learning English or students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.
Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Position Overview Glorious Future Learning Center is seeking a responsible, energetic, and experienced Group Leader to supervise and support students in Grades 5-8 during our after-school program. The ideal candidate will be confident working with middle-school-aged students and capable of creating a structured, engaging, and respectful environment. The Group Leader will assist students with homework, lead academic and recreational activities, support positive behavior, and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Responsibilities Supervise students in Grades 5-8 throughout the after-school program. Maintain a safe, organized, welcoming, and age-appropriate environment. Assist students with homework and provide academic support. Plan and lead enrichment activities, group projects, games, and recreational activities. Encourage positive behavior, respectful communication, teamwork, and leadership. Establish clear expectations and use effective behavior-management strategies. Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in/sign-out, incident, and activity records. Supervise students during meals, snacks, transitions, and dismissal. Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers, supervisors, and school personnel. Follow all program policies and applicable health, safety, and childcare regulations. Participate in staff meetings, professional-development sessions, and required training. Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and the proper care of program materials. Report safety concerns, behavioral incidents, injuries, or emergencies promptly. Perform other program-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, psychology, social work, recreation, or a related field is preferred. At least one year of experience working with children or youth in the Grade 5-8 age range. Current First Aid and CPR certification is required. Completion of the initial five-hour health and safety training is required. Must complete 30 hours of required childcare training every two years, equivalent to approximately 15 hours each year. Must be willing to complete all additional training required by Glorious Future Learning Center and applicable licensing agencies. Must be able to supervise students actively and respond appropriately during emergencies. Must demonstrate maturity, dependability, patience, professionalism, and sound judgment. Must have effective classroom and behavior-management skills. Must communicate clearly and respectfully with students, families, and staff. Must be available to work consistently Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Must successfully complete all required background checks and employment-clearance requirements. Preferred Qualifications College coursework or a degree in education, child development, psychology, social work, recreation, or a related field. Experience working in an after-school, childcare, youth-development, camp, or school-based program. Experience providing homework assistance or leading academic-enrichment activities. A valid driver's license and a safe driving record are a plus. Experience working with diverse children, families, and communities.
