Uncommon Schools seeks a Middle School ELA Teacher to provide rigorous, engaging literacy instruction in a high-performing, college-preparatory charter school. In this role, you will design and deliver standards-aligned reading and writing lessons, analyze assessment data to drive student growth, and implement targeted interventions for diverse learners. You will build a structured, joyful, and culturally responsive classroom, collaborate with a mission-driven team, and receive robust coaching and professional development to grow your practice and impact educational equity. Responsibilities Plan and deliver standards-aligned middle school ELA lessons that build strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Use data from assessments to analyze student progress and adjust instruction for diverse learners. Create a structured, joyful, and culturally responsive classroom environment with high academic and behavioral expectations. Provide targeted interventions and supports to students who are below grade level in literacy. Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to refine curriculum, share best practices, and align on student goals. Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and classroom expectations. Participate in ongoing coaching, observations, and professional development aligned to Uncommon Schools' instructional model. Contribute to the school community through advisory, duties, and school events as assigned.
