After-School Enrichment Instructor - Yoga (Part-Time) Yoga Playgrounds Portland, OR Job Details Part-time | Contract $30 an hour 7 hours ago Benefits Paid training Professional development assistance Flexible schedule Qualifications Behavior management Working with students Experience working with elementary school students Student engagement classroom management Working with youth Full Job Description Yoga Playgrounds is hiring enthusiastic, reliable, and energetic teachers to lead fun, active, and engaging yoga based movement classes for elementary aged kids (Grades K-5) throughout the Portland area. This is a part-time position teaching after school enrichment classes in schools. Our instructors lead classes designed to nurture kids's physical, emotional and social well being. Classes include individual and group poses, breathing exercises, mindfulness activities and creative relaxation techniques to promote strength, resilience, self awareness, self regulation and positivity. Yoga experience is helpful, but not required. We provide training, curriculum, and ongoing support. The most important qualifications are experience working with kids, reliability, and the ability to independently lead a group. For anyone interested in becoming a certified kids yoga teacher (this is not a requirement for the position) please join us for our upcoming 8 hour Kids Yoga Teacher Training on Saturday, August 22nd. Position details:
Part-time position teaching after-school enrichment classes, 1-5 afternoons per week Start date: Mid September 2026 Paid training in September Classes are 45 minutes long Teachers are matched with schools based on location to minimize driving time Curriculum, lesson plans, class supplies, and yoga mats are provided Must be able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule We are looking for people who: Are comfortable leading small groups of kids Are dependable and professional Can create a fun, positive, and engaging environment Enjoy being active, playful, creative, and encouraging Love movement and making a difference in kids lives Please note: Babysitting, nannying, or personal childcare experience alone does not meet the experience requirement. We are looking for candidates who have experience working with groups of kids in a structured setting.
Great candidates may include:
Teachers or former teachers Education or child development students Preschool or childcare professionals Parents with experience volunteering in schools, classrooms, youth programs, or other structured settings Camp counselors and youth program leaders Coaches, dance instructors, fitness instructors, or movement teachers Yoga teachers who enjoy working with kids
Requirements:
Previous experience working with kids required Reliable transportation to assigned schools Ability to pass a background check with the Oregon Central Background Registry Ability to commit to a consistent teaching schedule Positive, professional attitude and strong classroom management skills
