The Role We are seeking a visionary Middle School Science Teacher who is ready to move beyond the textbook. You will lead our students through an inquiry-based journey, utilizing the STEELS standards to integrate engineering, environmental literacy, and sustainability into a cohesive, hands-on curriculum for our multi-age classrooms.
What You'll Do Drive Discovery:
Use Phenomenon-Based Learning to anchor units in real-world observations, encouraging students to investigate, model, and explain complex natural and designed systems. Master the
STEELS:
Design and implement a curriculum that seamlessly weaves together Science, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Literacy, and Sustainability. Cultivate a
Lab Culture:
Maintain a vibrant, safe, and high-energy learning environment where experimentation and "productive failure" are celebrated parts of the scientific process. Personalize the
Journey:
Create individualized learning plans for gifted students, ensuring that every "junior scientist" is challenged at their specific level of readiness.
Collaborate & Innovate:
Work with a high-performing team to develop cross-curricular projects (think: the physics of literature or the math of ecology).
Qualifications Required:
Current Pennsylvania Teaching Certification (General Science, Biology, or Middle Level Science preferred). The "Bonus" Skills (Preferred):
Inquiry Experts:
3-5 years of experience in an inquiry-based or project-based learning (PBL) environment.
Multi-Certified:
Additional certification in Math, ELA, Social Studies, or Special Education is a major plus.
Gifted Education:
Experience or advanced coursework in meeting the social-emotional and academic needs of gifted learners.
Tech Integrated:
