The Blair Regional YMCA is seeking staff for the Before & After School Program. This position works a split shift from 6:30AM-8:45AM and 3:15PM-5:30PM, Monday through Friday. Responsible for the following:

Along with a group supervisor, responsible for the overall supervision of a group of up to 24 children between the ages of 5-12. Ensuring the care, safety, and well being of all the children in the group

• at all times.

Implementing and participating in planned activities that fit children's needs and interests. Effective communication, verbally and in writing, with parents throughout the year and during parent-teacher conferences.

SKILLS:

An understanding of school-age growth and development. Ability to apply this understanding to appropriate activities. Ability to work with school-age children in a calm, positive way Ability to meet social-emotional, physical, and developmental needs of individual school-age children. Ability to oversee both small and large groups of children at the same time. Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant environment. General knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid. Ability to maintain a positive relationship with children, co-workers, and parents.

EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in education or human service field

• OR•Associate degree (or 30 credits) in education or a related field plus 1 year of experience•OR•Two years of experience working with children

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Act 33/35 clearances (child abuse and state police criminal), FBI clearance Health assessment Two written references Available to work both AM and PM shift Monday-Friday, school holidays, and in-service days Pre-Service Training and additional trainings required by the Department of Human Services High School Diploma Must be at least 18 years old
