Aug 20, 2026 Job Description The Gordon School is a racially diverse Nursery through eighth grade all-gender independent school in East Providence, RI. The curriculum is rooted in multicultural practice and social justice, with an emphasis on developing intellectual leadership, active imagination, and a child's naturally inquisitive nature. Students are challenged and inspired to be active workers toward their own education and teachers strive to develop meaningful relationships with each child and family. We are seeking a Part-time Nursery teacher to co-teach a class of approximately 18 children. The Part-time Nursery teacher is a passionate and creative member of a team of two co-teachers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the educational, social, emotional, and developmental stages of three and four-year-olds. This position is part-time (4 hrs/day) and ineligible for benefits. The ideal hours would be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The anticipated start date for this position is August 20, 2026. The Ideal Candidate will demonstrate… Deep understanding of the social, emotional, and physical development of three and four-year-olds. Knowledgeable in progressive multicultural practices and anti-bias education for young children. Thrives in a co-teaching model, sharing expertise and responsibilities equitably while remaining open to feedback and new ideas. Skilled in oral and written communication, including proactive parent-teacher interactions and detailed documentation of student learning. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or Early Childhood required; Master's preferred. Minimum three years of early childhood teaching experience. Proficiency in technology for documentation and the ability to differentiate curriculum for diverse learning styles at this early stage of development. Primary Responsibilities Collaboratively design and implement an integrated, emergent curriculum grounded in responsive teaching. Supervise and provide differentiated instruction for all students in the classroom. Engage in ongoing professional development related to DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) and early childhood best practices. Actively participate in divisional, affinity group, and all-school meetings.
