Long-Term Substitute Math Teacher

Wickford Middle School, North Kingstown Public School District

ESS has partnered with the North Kingstown School Districtt to place passionate Substitute Teachers in the classroom! We are currently looking for a dynatic Long-Term Substitute Middle School Math Teacher to support Wickford MIddle School, with an anticipated start date in November 2026 through April 2027

When a teacher is absent, a qualified substitute is needed to carry out the educational program. As a long substitute teacher, you'll become an integral part of a school's educational team, amplifying your teaching expertise while maximizing the learning experience for students! . As a long-term substitute, you will be responsible to implementing provided lesson plans, grading/reporting, parent communication and classroom management. This position will have support from the Administration and Department Leads.

Responsibilities

Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent

Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives

Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment

Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration

Perform other duties as directed by school administration

Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics concepts, including number sense, algebra, geometry, ratios/proportions, statistics, and problem-solving

Previous experience teaching or working with middle school students preferred

Ability to develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned math lessons

Ability to differentiate instruction to meet students with varying academic abilities and learning needs

Strong classroom management and student engagement skills

Ability to use data and student assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction

Familiarity with educational technology, interactive learning tools, and/or learning management systems

Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, families, colleagues, and school administration

Ability to establish a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

Commitment to supporting students' academic growth, confidence, and problem-solving skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with grade-level teams, special education staff, and other school personnel

Qualifications

• RIDE Math Certification preferred, minimum bachelors with Math Background
