Job Description
East Cooper Montessori Charter School (ECMCS) is seeking an innovative educator to teach Middle School STEM and Foundations of Computer Science for high school credit. This position is ideal for a teacher who enjoys engaging students through hands-on, project-based learning while preparing them with the technology, engineering, and computational thinking skills needed for success in high school and beyond. Working within our public Montessori program, the teacher will foster curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem solving through authentic learning experiences. Responsibilities Teach Middle School STEM courses for grades 6-8 using inquiry-based, project-based instructional practices. Teach Foundations of Computer Science for high school credit in accordance with South Carolina Department of Education requirements. Develop engaging lessons that integrate engineering, technology, coding, computational thinking, and design challenges. Prepare students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and solve real-world problems. Maintain an organized and safe STEM learning environment and manage STEM equipment and technology resources. Integrate emerging technologies and digital tools to enhance student learning. Collaborate with classroom teachers and related arts staff to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students and families. Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives. Required Qualifications Valid South Carolina middle or secondary teaching certificate. Eligibility to teach Foundations of Computer Science under South Carolina Department of Education requirements, including completion (or willingness to complete) the required 30-hour SCDE Computer Science training . Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Strong instructional and classroom management skills. Passion for engaging adolescents through experiential learning. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching STEM, engineering, robotics, computer science, coding, makerspace, or technology education. Experience with robotics platforms, engineering design, 3D printing, or educational technology. Knowledge of project-based learning and inquiry-based instruction. Montessori experience or willingness to participate in Montessori professional development. Desired Characteristics The ideal candidate is someone who: Inspires curiosity and innovation.
