Job Description

  • Ensure the safety and emotional well-being of each child through kindness, nurturing, and positive behavior management.
  • Abide by the guidelines set forth by the FUMC Teacher Handbook and Minimum Standards for Texas.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers, staff, and parents.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in incorporating required activities into lesson plans that support children's development.
  • Assist in maintaining a variety of learning materials, as well as an appealing, tidy classroom.
  • Participate and fulfill required training program hours (30 hours).
  • Be familiar with weekly lesson plans and curriculum and offer assistance as needed.
  • Be physically able to bend, lift a child, and move quickly if necessary.
  • Attend required Meet-the-Teacher, staff meetings, staff development, and other school events throughout the school year.
  • Represent First United Methodist Church and Preschool in a positive and appropriate manner in the preschool, in the community, and on social media.
