Job description: After-School Teacher / Van DriverOverview Join our vibrant team as an After-School Teacher / Van Driver and play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children after school hours. This position includes driving a program van to transport children safely to and from school and/or program activities , as well as supervising and engaging children in meaningful after-school activities. The ideal candidate is responsible, dependable, safety-conscious, and enjoys working with children. You will help create positive experiences through creative activities, outdoor games, theater, youth programs, and other enrichment opportunities while ensuring children are transported and supervised safely. Duties Safely drive the program van to transport children between schools, program locations, and activities Follow all transportation, vehicle safety, and child passenger safety procedures Complete required vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns Maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment while transporting children Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Facilitate engaging activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor games, theater experiences, and youth group programs Implement positive behavior management strategies to encourage respectful interactions Provide first aid and CPR when necessary, following established protocols Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing individualized attention when required Manage classroom routines, transitions, and child supervision effectively Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and other caregivers regarding children's progress or concerns Follow all organizational policies and procedures related to child safety, transportation, and supervision Qualifications & Experience At least 25 years of age due to van-driving responsibilities Valid driver's license and a safe driving record Ability and willingness to regularly drive a program van as part of the position Any required van/bus driver qualifications, training, or certifications must be obtained or maintained as required by the organization Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is essential Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, youth program, or similar settings is highly preferred Experience with classroom management and youth activities is preferred Knowledge of childhood development and positive behavior management techniques Experience working with children with special needs or in inclusive settings is a plus Background in theater arts, extracurricular activities, babysitting, youth ministry, or counseling is a plus Outdoor work experience and familiarity with outdoor safety protocols are advantageous Dependable, patient, energetic, and comfortable working directly with children Important Requirement This position includes regular van-driving responsibilities. Candidates must be comfortable driving children as part of their normal work duties and meet all applicable driver and transportation requirements.

Pay:

$13.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 30.0 per week
